A Celebration for women by Women, come one come all.

The National Association of Nigerian Communities (NANC), UK. is organising a fun packed, informative event as part of International Women’s Day campaign,  Press for Progress and a Celebration of 100 years women gaining the right to vote. Among the talent on the day will be female experts from different fields speaking on various issues that relate to women with the aim to inform, empower, educate, encourage, and inspire. There will also be performances on that day from different members of the community, light refreshments for all guests, raffle, music/entertainment, and awards to be given out for women nominated by their community (All can apply).

Important dignitaries and groups participating in the event are the Mayor and Mayoress of Milton Keynes, Mrs Moriah Priestley Councillor for Milton Keynes, Mrs Yemisi Jenkins MBE: From UK Home office, Ms Juliet Okoye: Book Author and health expert, Ms Victoria Ajayi: NANC Chair of Leeds, Ms Lydia Ling and Bhanu Chadalavada: Mental health experts, Councillor Kate Anolue – Former Mayor of Enfield, MK-Act, MK College, Chadwick Lodge Medium Secure Services, and many more professionals and Organisations.

This Celebration of Women for the last 100 years till now takes place on 10th March 2018 at 12:00-17:00hrs, the event, being organised by NANC women, will be held at the newly refurbished Trinity Centre, Fishermead Milton Keynes, MK6 2AL.

According to the Women development officer for NANC, Ms Lilian Martins, “International Women’s day, is a celebration for women from all walks of life along side women around the world. To celebrate their achievements, empower them to do more, and create an environment where they can network, and have fun whilst meeting with other likeminded women.” This event supports the need for a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. With the aim to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive (IWD, 2018). “This event is not country, group or organisation specific. The celebration is for all women so let’s come together, let's all being determined press forward on gender parity and Press for Progress. In the same vein, NANC President, Mr Seyi Obadare, has enjoined all men, to support women on this day to make it a resounding success”
