MMK Mind: Supporting Your Mental Health This Winter
In their second guest blog, the fantastic team at local mental health charity Maidstone & Mid Kent Mind (MMK Mind) share news of the services they offer to help provide support for your mental health this winter.
---
We all know how important mental health is – but as the winter weather begins to close in, and the nights get darker quicker, it can often feel like the weather has a negative impact on our overall wellbeing. We wanted to take a couple of moments today to share some of the services we will be running over the next couple of months in Maidstone – which will hopefully make the difficult journey through the Winter months a little bit easier.
Hope Café
Firstly – we wanted to highlight our out-of-hours crisis service which runs in Maidstone for people who may be experiencing emotional crisis. The Hope Café is a service which is designed to offer support and guidance to those who may not have anywhere else to turn. The Café is facilitated by trained wellbeing workers and volunteers.

Coping with Life Courses
MMK Mind also deliver a variety of ‘Coping With’ courses in the Maidstone area – specifically, ‘Coping with Anxiety & Stress’ and ‘Coping with Depression’. These courses are designed to educate people about common mental health problems they may be experiencing, whilst also providing them with opportunities to learn and develop coping strategies and mechanisms which will better help them manage their mental health as a part of their everyday life.

That’s all from us today – thanks for taking the time out to read this segment! We’ll be back soon – hopefully with information on our Christmas Opening Hours, and the services you can access to benefit your mental health when we are shut over the Festive period.
