Last Tuesday evening, The Heart of Flavour held the second Kent Digital Meetup Maidstone.

The monthly meetups sponsored by Reflect Digital and Space Between focus on sharing digital marketing knowledge and trends with those working and interested in digital marketing, as well as providing a fantastic opportunity to network.

The event was a total success of networking and inspiring talks from guest speakers Liam Thompson and Caroline Adams. Not to mention there was free pizza and beer for the attendees!

Liam Thompson - Online Advertising Technical Display Manager at Holiday Extras, gave an interesting talk on ‘Audiences are the future of marketing.’ The talk explained the key tools and marketing steps that you should use to create a marketing plan with the audience in mind. The talk included topics such as remarketing, using data to uncover your audiences and Facebook Chatbots. Liam also stressed the importance of using Google Tag Manager for data insights. The talk sparked an interesting discussion where the audience had the chance to ask any questions.

After a break including pizza, drinks and plenty of networking, the talks resumed.

Caroline Adams - Social Media Manager at Accor Hotels, gave an inspiring talk on ‘Outsmarting the Facebook Algorithm.’ She began sharing her favourite marketing quote ’Marketing is no longer about the stuff that you make but the stories that you tell’ (Seth Godin). After discussing the popularity of social media platforms, she stressed the importance of using Instagram and Facebook for marketing and shared her top tips. Caroline discussed Facebook and Instagram best practices, the importance of creating engaging content such as video, as well as the importance of data analytics and scheduling in advance
