6 HRS AGO - The young guns of the illustrious Arsenal came to Top Field and both teams served up an entertaining and very even game in front of 654 spectators. A draw was probably the equitable result and the Hitchin players can feel proud of their effort and commitment. Mind you, within a minute of the start a bit of a blooper from Charlie Horlock saw a poor clearance right into the path of an eager Gunner who shot instinctively and it just took a touch for a corner. 29/03/2019 -   Bedworth United came to Top Field today hoping for a stay of execution, but their 4-1 defeat consigns them to relegation, but they deserve full credit for going down rather gallantly and playing a good deal better than the score line suggests. Hitchin were indeed a little cautious as this was wisely considered a game that could indeed be tricky. It will also be remembered that at The Oval in the corresponding fixture the Canaries had to fight from 0-2 down to scramble a 2-2 draw..... Collapse

17/02/2019 - Yes, it was a bizarre winning goal, with comedic overtones and could easily have been prevented if the goal keeper Liam Castle had elected to gather the ball to his chest and not try to clear it on the half volley. It turned out to be the only goal of the game and it saved it from being a fairly dull, goal-less draw – and most vital it was three points which means there are now five teams below Hitchin in the League table. 29/01/2019 - Suffolk has not been the happiest of hunting grounds for the Canaries with losses at Lowestoft and Needham Market, but today, at Victory Road that trend was reversed, but it was perhaps the most difficult of the three most recent games. 07/12/2018 - We have a lot to praise about the performance of the Canaries against their senior county neighbours, who neither outfought nor outplayed the hosts in a somewhat gruelling ninety minutes. The game was like the curate’s egg, being good in parts and was, in vital moments, decided by the goalkeeping prowess of both Michael Johnson and Laurie Walker.
