Comedy from Hitch-hiker’s Guide author lands in Balham!
Balham’s award-winning theatre group, Southside, will perform ‘Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency’ based on the novel by Douglas Adams, author of ‘The Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’.
Performances will take place at Chestnut Grove Academy Theatre from Wednesday 29th May to Saturday 1st June.

About the show
Dirk Gently is the proprietor of a detective agency whose operation is based on the principle that all things in the universe are fundamentally interconnected. Normally, Dirk specialises in missing cats and messy divorces, but he makes an exception when a fairly gruesome murder means that the existence of human life on earth might be threatened. And he has to cope without the music of Johann Sebastian Bach – because in Dirk Gently’s space-time continuum, no such composer has ever existed. Although pizza does, obviously. And cats (of course).
Confused? Don’t worry, because you are in the hands of Douglas Adams, the genius author of ‘The Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’. Douglas Adams himself described ‘Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency’ as a ‘thumping good detective-ghost-horror-who dunnit-time travel-romantic-musical-comedy-epic’. What’s not to like?

About Southside
Southside theatre group has been staging high-quality drama in the Balham area since 1987. Now more than 60 members strong, the group stages three main productions a year, along with rehearsed readings and lots of social events.
